P[í]caro
By Juan Pablo Iñiguez
Observing is a disruptive act because it paints, imposes, and forces ideas and feelings onto the subjects it captures. Yet that unabashed observation of the world is what turns a rebellious act into a moralizing one. The Spanish word Pícaro seizes the essence of this visual archive, someone of cunning nature, living at the margins of conventional social norms. Here, the trails left in the air by fleeting moments are observed and pieced together to convey something once lived that still lingers.
